I have a Performax/Jet 10/20 drum sander and I've never had a problem with it. I haven't used it in a couple months, but the last time I used it it worked like a charm. I wanted to use it this afternoon and the conveyer didn't work. The drum worked okay, but not the conveyer. Could there be a fuse somewhere? Has anyone heard of this are experienced this? Any suggestions for a fix to this problem? ...I've got a couple builds to work on...

I have that problem with mine. Once it gets started it works ok. I tap the switchbox with a hammer and work the switch. Could be a dust problem. I asked the jet rep about it a few months ago and he asked if I tried blowing out the switch. Might try that if tapping doesn't work. It usually happens when I first try to use it after its been sitting. I think it could be a defected switch or something...like corrosion problems or bad gearing. I had access to two sanders at my work and they never had a problem...the shops were way dustier that my garage and sat for longer periods than mine sometimes. One was/is 15 yrs old or more and the other is about 8 yrs. old. Mine is about 3 yrs old. I'm probably going to take it in to Woodcraft when I get the chance...before the warranty expires...I think its 5 yrs. Just noticed yours is 10/20...mine is 16/32 |

Caine, Okay, it works now! I took the screws off the switch housing and removed the housing from underneath the sander, exposing the switch and a circuit board. The wires to the switch attach to the circuit board with a removable connector. I pulled the wire connnectors off the circuit board and simply put them back on... jiggling a little to possibly clean the connection... Now I'm back in business! |
